In a recent report from the Institute of Economic Affairs estimated that cannabis would bring in 2.6 billion in revenue. Sales taxes are projected to raise around 690 million.
As new data and information is gathered, the public perception of marijuana as a whole is changing. Marijuana is know longer seen as a dangerous back-alley drug. Marijuana is becoming more mainstream with this new influx of information and studies. Marijuana seems to be branding her self as a universal answer to a lot of today’s problems.
There are also opposing arguments on the table. One topic of discussion is that potency of today marijuana. With the increase of THC levels, agencies are reporting an increase in mental health problems, related to marijuana by 50%. Government regulations and enforcement would also help to better control quality and THC levels.
